Childress Receives Education Heroes Award
During the 2019 Education Partnership Conference, MAPE presented the Education Heroes Award to Dr. Lee Childress, superintendent of the Corinth School District, to honor his lifelong contributions to public education in Mississippi.
As a champion of innovation in education, Dr. Childress recognizes the importance of working with the community to improve public schools, which is integral to MAPE’s mission.
MAPE presented the inaugural Education Heroes Award in 2018 to Dr. Virgil Belue, who served as the first superintendent of the Clinton Public School District from 1970 to 1992.
