Brandon High School
Have you ever imagined what schools could achieve when they simply unite with their communities? Mississippi has faced a teacher shortage since the 1970s, but the Mississippi Department of Education’s “Grow Our Own” initiative is combating that shortage. One standout example is Brandon High School’s Teacher Academy. We are a community-driven program that develops future educators right here at home. By strengthening local partnerships, we’re not only addressing the shortage but building a sustainable pipeline of passionate, prepared teachers for our students. As Henry Ford said, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”
