Have you ever wondered how schools could thrive through unifying with their communities? It’s a known fact that Mississippi public schools have been plagued with a teacher shortage since the 1970s. Fortunately, the Mississippi Department of Education’s initiative to “Grow Our Own,” has led to productive programs such as Brandon High School’s Teacher Academy. In order to tackle the teacher shortage in our immediate area, we are growing tremendously through community partnerships. Henry Ford said it best, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.”
