Gulfport School District (2024)
The Gulfport School District has established a partnership with Mississippi Aquarium aimed at enhancing STEM opportunities for middle school students within the district. Through this collaboration, all middle school students have been afforded the opportunity to visit the aquarium, with select students receiving invitations to participate in intersession camps. A key focus of this initiative is to address the needs of underserved students by fostering increased interest, engagement, and achievement in STEM education. Additionally, the Gulfport School District and Mississippi Aquarium have jointly organized an annual District Science Fair Showcase beginning in 2023. The showcase features the projects of winning students from each school in the district, providing them with a platform to present their projects and be judged by community scientists at Mississippi Aquarium.
