Long Beach School District (2024)
Through a community coalition, LBSD achieved official Campaign for Grade-level Reading Community recognition as one of nine communities in Mississippi to achieve this. As a segue, this led to LBSD securing the highly competitive MDE Early Learning Collaborative Grant in conjunction with MAP Headstart, Mission Acceleration, and the Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction at Ole Miss. LBSD with the community coalition generated its Community-Based Action Plan, published it on the CGLR website, and introduced a pre-k program to benefit all children.
