Lillie Burney S.T.E.A.M. Academy is Hattiesburg Public School District’s sixth grade-only school which incorporates and emphasizes the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Lillie Burney S.T.E.A.M Academy is comprised of interdisciplinary pods that focuses upon student academic success career needs while also incorporating several clubs and organizations that emphasize the importance of student socialization and interpersonal growth.

COVID has provided many unprecedented challenges this school year. As a result of this, our school has partnered with community businesses and organizations in order to maintain teacher buy-in and feelings of worth and importance to increase teacher and student attendance. Teacher and student attendance has been proven to correlate with student academic success and proficiency. Students are behind academically as a result of the pandemic shutting down the nation's schools. Our focus must remain upon our school’s mission to "empower remarkable students" through the support and encouragement of those who are at the forefront of ensuring the success of this mission: the teachers.
