The Utility Lineman program provides high school seniors at Petal High School a hands-on learning opportunity that not only prepares them for a career, but also provides 14 hours of college credit at Pearl River Community College
Engaging classroom presentations and exchanges with community leaders and educators provide opportunities for potential educators to explore the teaching profession. Community leaders from all over the state participate to build relationships with teacher academy students.
The Academy’s clinical settings gives students an insight into possible future employment. Along with what is being taught in the classroom, community partnerships allow students to have hands-on experiences with the healthcare field and community service.
Efforts of their partners have worked to beautify restrooms on the campus, provide information on various colleges and universities to students, serve as campus greeters, donate school supplies, provide funds for celebrations, donate t-shirts, gift cards and goodie bags for students and staff.
