Sumner Hill Junior High School (Clinton Public School District)
Sumner Hill Jr High School (Clinton Public Schools) with Mississippi State University Extension. “Welcome to the Real World!” program helps students learn skills that lay the groundwork for success upon graduation and entering adulthood.
During the fair, students learn how spending influences quality of life, how education impacts income, and how budgeting and planning can increase available funds. Each student is assigned an educational level, job, marital status and children. Once “payday” come, students discover they have many expenses to cover. Students move around all 16 stations, spend their money and discuss financial decisions with Bank Plus volunteers. Before and after questionnaires indicate that the students are impacted regarding finances, spending choices and having an education.
