In 2015, the Vicksburg Warren School District set out to dramatically transform high school education to support its goal of graduating every student college, career and life prepared. As the district began exploring and implementing important changes, they met representatives with Ford Next Generation Learning to launch the career academy model in the Vicksburg Warren School District with the help of the Vicksburg Warren County Chamber of Commerce. The goal of the Vicksburg Warren College & Career Academies is to better align students’ skills to existing workforce needs.

Impacts:

• Graduation rate rose from 56.2% in 2012 to 72.4% in 2018
• 167 Academy courses offered
• 565 students enrolled in CTE; 1,774 in Academy classes
